TYS Frost

Los Angeles–based artist Maggie West presents Frost, an immersive installation unfolding across expansive digital screens at Standard Vision Studios. Presented in collaboration with Expression, the project transforms West’s signature time lapse photography into a luminous winter dreamscape. Using layered imagery and colored lighting, West reimagines delicate branches and silvery leaves in icy tones of blue and white, creating a frozen garden that slowly comes to life around viewers. Guests are invited to move through a serene yet engaging environment shaped by shifting fields of pale light and delicate blooms.

The event brings together art and music as a single immersive experience, with a live soundtrack curated by Things You Say and friends. West’s large scale visual installation becomes the backdrop for a celebratory gathering where sound, light, and motion merge, transforming the space into a shared sensory experience. Known for her installations at major cultural moments including Coachella, West extends her practice with Frost into a social, music driven context that blurs the boundaries between exhibition, performance, and celebration.

Time Lapse Photography

West’s groundbreaking time-lapse animations push the boundaries of photography, transforming natural subjects into immersive, otherworldly environments. By meticulously capturing thousands of high-resolution frames over extended periods of time, West reveals subtle movements that are normally imperceptible to the human eye. The slow unfurling of leaves, the shifting hues of petals under light. Layered with her signature use of colored gels and lighting techniques, these animations recast the familiar textures of nature as luminous, dreamlike landscapes.

Through this innovative process, West has established a distinctive visual language that merges scientific observation with artistic imagination. Her animations are not simply documentation, but meditations on transformation, temporality, and the hidden rhythms of the natural world. This practice has been recognized by major cultural institutions and brands alike, cementing West’s reputation as a pioneer of immersive digital media who continues to expand the possibilities of time-lapse as a medium.

Digital Installation

Following the success of her previous exhibition with Things You Say at SV Studios, West returns to the Los Angeles venue with Frost, a new seasonal installation. Known for transforming vast screens into immersive environments of color and movement, West now shifts her focus to a winter aesthetic, reimagining delicate branches and silvery leaves in icy tones of blue and white. This new body of work transforms the studio’s high-resolution LED environment into a luminous frozen garden, enveloping audiences in a serene, dreamlike atmosphere that contrasts yet complements the vibrancy of her earlier presentation there.

SV Studios’ state-of-the-art technology and flexible event space make it an ideal platform for West’s ambitious installations. The venue’s sweeping curved screens and central Los Angeles location allow Frost to unfold as both an intimate encounter with nature and a cinematic spectacle, perfectly suited for private events, brand activations, and content capture. Building on her proven success at the site, West’s return establishes an evolving dialogue between her work and the space, demonstrating the versatility of her practice across seasons and themes.

With Frost, West continues her exploration of time-lapse photography as an immersive medium, offering Los Angeles audiences an entirely new perspective on her art. The installation not only showcases her technical innovation and visual poetry, but also underscores SV Studios’ role as a leading destination for immersive experiences and branded cultural events. For audiences and brand partners alike, Frost represents a rare opportunity to experience one of today’s most distinctive voices in digital art within one of the most advanced creative studios in the world.

Physical Installation

Complementing the digital environment, Frost also includes a large scale physical installation composed of sculptural floral cutouts that guests can walk through and photograph. Echoing the aesthetic of West’s celebrated Coachella installation, but smaller in scale, the structure transforms her botanical imagery into a three dimensional landscape of layered forms and crisp silhouettes. Illuminated in cool winter tones, the sculptural pathway allows visitors to step directly inside the artwork, creating a tactile counterpart to the surrounding screens and offering a striking, photogenic centerpiece for the event.

Music and Immersive Art

The premiere of Frost is conceived as a one night immersive art and music event. Presented in collaboration with Los Angeles event group Expression, the evening transforms the studio into a glowing winter environment animated by Maggie West’s large scale visuals and a live musical program curated by Things You Say and friends. Sound, light, and motion combine to create a festive, high energy atmosphere that invites guests to dance, explore, and move through the space.

The cinematic winter palette of luminous blues, silvery leaves, and delicate blooms becomes the backdrop for a social, late night gathering where music drives the experience. The immersive visuals heighten the sense of celebration, turning the installation into a dynamic party environment that naturally encourages photography, short form video, and shared moments. With Frost, West expands her time lapse practice into a vibrant, music driven format, creating an unforgettable seasonal event where art and nightlife intersect.
